About a year ago, I received the call from Griff. We got the Germany spot! Just months prior, we were told that it was off the table, a non-negotiable. You can imagine the excitement. We were about to embark on a three year adventure in a country not our own.

Essentially, Brot und Butter is a way for us to keep family and friends from home updated on our journey. It also allows us to document our experiences and keep track of all the places we travel.

The name (“Brot und Butter”) comes from some of the first few German words we learned while using our handy Duolingo App in preparation for the move. It translates “bread and butter.” In a sense, this will reflect the “bread and butter” of our lives in a country halfway across the world.
